We sell a huge range of quality, organic skincare at Infinity Foods that are perfect for people with very little spare time, but did you know we stock some simple ingredients to make your own skincare products?

The biggest effect we can have on our skin, is what we put in our bodies. Eating fresh, organic fruit and vegetables, nuts, seeds and grains can give our bodies most of the nutrients it needs. When you’re healthy on the inside, it shows on the outside. External pollutants however, can make it harder for our skin to cope, even if we are eating all the right things.

I’ve been making my own beauty products for years now and have worked out the best ingredients you can use to give your skin a boost when it needs it! Here is one of my favourite recipes to make your skincare routine fun, creative and inexpensive.

How to make your own toner…

This is so simple it seems ridiculous to have a ‘method’ to make this beautiful toner. All you have to do is pour both the apple cider vinegar and rosewater in a glass jar and shake it up! This amount will usually last about a week. It’s best to only make this small quantity once a week and then store it in the fridge. This helps to keep it fresh and feels incredibly cooling on your skin. Just dip an organic cotton pad into your toner and wipe it over your face and neck after cleansing. Yes, it does smell like vinegar, but after a minute or two when your face is completely dry, the odour is gone and no one will say to you, ‘Mmm…I don’t know why, but I’ve got a sudden craving for salt and vinegar crisps’. If they do, it’s completely random and unrelated to the new addition to your skincare routine!

Apple cider vinegar can make your skin tingle when it’s not used to it, so I recommend that the first time you make this toner, only use 1 tablespoon. I now make my mix with 2 tablespoons, but used only 1 for about a month before increasing it, so that my skin became accustomed to it. Apple cider vinegar that still contains the ‘mother’, means that it is unfiltered and therefore very beneficial for your overall well-being. It looks a bit cloudy, due to the bacteria and acids that have remained after it has been fermented. These are the properties that made it magic for your skin!

Apple cider vinegar works in a similar way to witch hazel. It’s an all-natural astringent that helps to maintain and restore the correct pH levels to your skin. Rosewater has anti-inflammatory properties that can help to soothe and soften skin as well as reducing redness or irritation.  Together these two ingredients make the perfect toner to help clear and brighten your skin, giving it a healthy, happy glow.
